This slow cooker 3-ingredient marshmallow cereal dip is one of those fun, colorful treats that kids remember for a long time. I first made it for a spring party, and my little cousin absolutely went crazy for the gooey, stretchy marshmallows swirled with crunchy rainbow cereal pieces. Everything melts together right in the slow cooker, so you’re mostly hands-off, and it feels a bit like a campfire marshmallow meets party snack board. It’s perfect for busy parents who want something festive without a lot of steps or ingredients.
Serve this dip warm right in the slow cooker (set to warm) with a ladle or sturdy spoon. Put small bowls or paper cups nearby so everyone can scoop some out. It goes well with plain graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzel sticks, sliced apples, or even extra handfuls of the same colorful cereal for double crunch. A glass of cold milk or hot coffee for the grown-ups balances the sweetness nicely. If you’re hosting a party, set it in the middle of the table and let everyone gather around for dipping—it becomes a fun little dessert station.
Slow Cooker Marshmallow Cereal Dip
Servings: 8-10

Ingredients
1 (10-ounce) bag mini marshmallows
3 cups colorful frosted cereal shapes (like rainbow frosted fruit cereal)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Directions
Lightly grease the inside of a small slow cooker (2–4 quart size works best) with a bit of butter or nonstick spray to help keep the marshmallow from sticking too much.
Add the mini marshmallows and the 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the slow cooker. Reserve the cereal for later so it stays crunchy and colorful.
Cover and cook on LOW for 45–60 minutes, or until the marshmallows are mostly melted and puffy. Check once halfway through and give everything a gentle stir to help the butter blend in and prevent scorching along the edges.
When the marshmallows are fully melted and smooth, switch the slow cooker to WARM. Quickly stir in 2 1/2 cups of the colorful frosted cereal shapes, folding gently so you don’t crush them completely. The cereal will swirl through the white marshmallow and create that gooey, stringy, colorful look.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cereal over the top for extra crunch and a pretty, pastel finish. Do not over-stir at this point—you want some pieces to stay visible and crunchy on top.
Serve the dip warm right from the slow cooker, keeping it on the WARM setting. Stir gently every so often to keep the texture smooth and scoopable. Set out graham crackers, pretzels, and fruit slices for dipping, and enjoy the gooey marshmallow strings and crunchy cereal bits while it’s still warm and stretchy.
Variations & Tips
For extra color and fun, you can mix different rainbow cereals together—anything with frosted, fruity, or pastel shapes works well. If you have little ones who are sensitive to very sweet treats, use a plainer cereal (like lightly sweetened oat rings) for part of the amount and keep just a cup or so of the bright, frosted cereal for the top. To make it more of a party centerpiece, scatter a few extra cereal pieces and mini marshmallows around the slow cooker on the table for decoration. If your slow cooker runs hot, check at the 30-minute mark so the marshmallows don’t scorch—every slow cooker is a bit different. You can also line the slow cooker insert with a parchment sling for easier cleanup if you’re worried about sticking. For a slightly richer flavor, stir in an extra tablespoon of butter once everything is melted, or add a small splash of vanilla extract (this would technically be a fourth ingredient, so only do it if you’re not strictly counting). Leftovers can be scooped into a parchment-lined dish, pressed flat, and cooled, then sliced into chewy cereal-marshmallow squares for another day.
